Synopsis
Following the sudden death of Granny Weatherwax, the most formidable witch on the Chalk and in Lancre, Tiffany Aching inherits her steading and responsibilities and becomes the de facto leader of the region's witches, even as she still struggles to manage her own duties at home. Among those drawn into her orbit is Geoffrey Swivel, an unconventional, pacifist young man determined to become a witch himself despite the tradition being reserved for women. When Granny Weatherwax's death weakens the barrier separating the human world from the realm of the elves, the elf Peaseblossom seizes the opportunity to depose the injured former Elf Queen, Nightshade, who flees for safety among the humans, and begins plotting to lead an elvish invasion into the human world.
