Synopsis
Opening the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy, the story is set on the world of Tremaris, largely within the ice-walled community of Antaris, where priestesses maintain a protective wall of magical song. Calwyn, a young priestess who has spent her life helping to sustain that wall through song magic, has never left Antaris until a traveling chanter named Darrow breaches its defenses. Calwyn flees with Darrow into the wider world beyond the wall, drawn into company with figures including the sailor Tonno, his young relatives Xanni and Mica, and the boy Trout. Their journey brings them into conflict with Samis, a sorcerer pursuing them because he seeks to become the legendary singer of all songs, a figure said capable of mastering every form of magical song and dominating the whole of Tremaris.
