Synopsis
The Skies of Pern is set late in Pern's Ninth Pass of Thread. A rogue comet strikes the planet, prompting Pern's leaders to begin planning for a future in which dragonriders and Threadfall itself may no longer be central to daily life. Dragonriders F'lessan and Tai make an important discovery: dragons possess a telekinetic ability beyond their known powers, a revelation with real implications for both defense and exploration. At the same time, a group calling themselves the Abominators, resisting the resurgence of ancient technology across the Holds and Crafthalls, mounts a campaign of sabotage and attacks on new inventions. Suspicion grows that the Abominators are secretly linked to Toric, the ambitious Southern Lord Holder, entangling the comet threat with deeper political intrigue among Pern's ruling factions.
