Synopsis

The Spirit Eater (2010) is the third novel in Rachel Aaron's The Legend of Eli Monpress series. After the escapades of the previous book, Eli Monpress and his companions attempt to take a rare break in a quiet seaside village, only for their rest to be interrupted when a woman named Pele asks for Eli's help finding her missing father. The search draws the group into events larger than they first appear, and the novel turns particular attention to Nico, Eli's quiet companion, who is plagued by a demon's voice in her own head and struggles with feelings of powerlessness and self-doubt over what she may be capable of. As hidden schemes beyond Eli's usual awareness begin to surface, Nico's uncertain past and conflicted loyalties move toward the center of the unfolding trouble.
