Synopsis

The Spirit Rebellion (2010) is the second novel in Rachel Aaron's The Legend of Eli Monpress series, continuing directly on from the first book. Thief Eli Monpress and his companions Josef and Nico, along with Miranda of the Spirit Court, are joined by a new figure, the swordsman Josef's family retainer Giuseppe. Eli sets his sights on his next great heist: infiltrating the reputedly thief-proof citadel of the Duke of Gaol. The Duke, however, is no ordinary mark, being one of the wealthiest men in the world, a formidable wizard in his own right, and an obsessive perfectionist who has made hunting Eli something of a personal hobby. As multiple parties converge on the citadel, what begins as an ambitious heist quickly turns into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with serious consequences for everyone involved.
