Synopsis

Terence is a fourteen-year-old boy living quietly in medieval England, raised by a guardian who seems able to remember the future and surrounded by rumours that his parents were faeries. When the knight Sir Gawain offers to take him on as his squire and train him for knighthood, Terence leaves his woodland home and takes to the road. Their travels lead to King Arthur's court at Camelot and bring them into contact with Merlin, the Lady of the Lake, wizards, dwarfs, enchanters and damsels in distress. Alongside sword fights and bursts of sorcery, Terence searches for the truth about who his parents were. The story mixes retellings of traditional Arthurian tales with a light, humorous tone and is the first of ten linked novels.
