Synopsis
Terence is still serving as squire to Sir Gawain at Camelot, where the court is uneasy about Queen Guinevere's affair with Sir Lancelot. Gawain accepts a bargain made with the mysterious Green Knight: after Gawain beheads the knight, the blow is to be returned a year later at the Green Chapel. When the time comes, Gawain and Terence set out on the journey together, and the road takes them into dangerous territory. Gawain is captured by the treacherous Marquis of Alva and sentenced to death, and Terence must find a way to rescue his master and the spirited Lady Eileen. The novel adapts the fourteenth-century romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in a humorous, adventurous style.
