Synopsis

The first book of the Sandsea Trilogy opens in a world inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, where magical jinn once lived alongside humans before withdrawing into the mystical Sandsea, and where seven especially powerful jinn rulers called ifrit were said to hold extraordinary power. Loulie al-Nazari, known in the black market as the Midnight Merchant, trades illegally in relics with the help of her fire-jinn bodyguard Qadir. When the sultan discovers her secret, he coerces her into leading an expedition to the lost city of Dhabab to retrieve a lamp holding an imprisoned ifrit, sending his son Prince Mazen and a scarred, vengeful thief named Aisha to accompany her.
