Synopsis

Raziel, an angel who first appeared in Moore's earlier novel Lamb, is sent to Earth at Christmas to grant a child's wish. He chooses to help a boy who has just seen a man dressed as Santa Claus die. In Pine Cove, the town is preparing a community dinner at the church beside the cemetery. Raziel's clumsy attempt to revive the dead man goes badly wrong and brain-eating zombies rise from the graves near the church. Theo Crowe, Molly Michon, Lena Marquez, Tucker Case and the other townspeople have to deal with the siege.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
