Synopsis
The Surviving Sky is set in a science-fantasy world where humanity survives above a dangerous, storm-wracked jungle planet in floating cities grown from living plant matter, kept aloft by the rare architects whose magical abilities anchor and move the settlements. The story follows Iravan, a celebrated architect whose powers are essential to his city's survival, and his wife Ahilya, an archaeologist who has come to see the architects' privileged status as a tool of institutional oppression over ordinary non-architect citizens. When an expedition into the jungle below goes wrong, it exposes secrets that threaten both their marriage and their careers, and as their city itself begins descending toward the perilous world below, Iravan and Ahilya are forced to set aside their differences and confront truths that could destabilize the entire civilization built on the architects' magic.
