Synopsis
The Trail of Bohu is the third novel in Charles R. Saunders's Imaro saga, set on the fantasy continent of Nyumbani. By this point Imaro has settled into a quieter life as a husband and father within the kingdom of Cush, having found some measure of peace after the events of the previous book. That peace is shattered when tragedy strikes his family, driving him to seek vengeance against the powerful sorcerer Bohu, whom he holds responsible. Imaro's pursuit of his nemesis carries him across the length of the continent, through unfamiliar lands and among new allies and enemies, as a much larger cosmic conflict between the forces of good and evil begins to erupt around him. What starts as a personal quest for retribution gradually reveals itself to be entangled with far greater stakes for Nyumbani as a whole.

Notes
- From the series record (Imaro): Founding work of the 'Sword and Soul' subgenre: African-inspired heroic fantasy created explicitly as an alternative to the genre's default pseudo-medieval-European settings. No award wins or nominations could be independently corroborated for this series; it is admitted on documented genre-historical significance (the first African-diaspora sword-and-sorcery hero in the genre, widely cited as founding a subgenre later authors built on) rather than an award record.
