Synopsis

In the final volume of the Traitor Spy trilogy, Sonea learns that the Sachakan king has taken her son Lorkin captive and is pressuring him to betray his allies among the Traitors, leaving her to prepare for difficult negotiations to secure his freedom. In Sachaka, Dannyl must navigate an increasingly complicated relationship with his contact Achati, uncertain how far he can trust him, while political tensions in the region continue to mount. Back in Imardin, Sonea's old friend Cery goes into hiding as the mysterious criminal known as the Rogue continues his bid to seize control of the city's underworld, and a young magician named Lilia takes on the task of protecting him, while a Black Magician named Kallen is assigned to stop the threat despite doubts about his commitment to the task.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Traitor Spy Trilogy): Direct sequel trilogy to The Black Magician Trilogy, set roughly 20 years later; the author's own reading-order page requires Black Magician to be read first.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series The Traitor Spy Trilogy: position 3 of 3: previous The Rogue (2011)
  • Internal chronology, within The Black Magician Trilogy and the Kyralia World: position 7 of 7: previous The Rogue (2011)
