Synopsis
The White Rose closes the first trilogy of the Chronicles as the Black Company, having unknowingly sheltered the reborn rebel leader known as the White Rose, takes refuge in the Plain of Fear, a strange and magically dangerous sanctuary. Chronicled once more by Croaker, the Company's doctor, the story finds the Taken and their armies gathering at the plain's borders, threatening to overwhelm the vastly outnumbered rebels sheltering there, among them the young woman Darling, whose unusual immunity to magic makes her central to the rebellion's hopes. Mysterious couriers bring word that an old wizard named Bomanz may have uncovered the true name of the Lady herself, a secret that could tip the long war against the empire, while at the imprisoning Barrowland, the ancient tyrant known as the Dominator continues to stir in his confinement, an added threat looming over the rebels' desperate stand.
