Synopsis
Guest Gulkan, a recurring character, begins as an overconfident fourteen-year-old. His quest for power ties together many of the series' main plot threads and covers the whole chronology, from before the earliest events to the close of the Age of Darkness. He ends as a more reflective conqueror with enough control to change his world. It is the final novel of the series and is narrated by a different character from the earlier volumes.
