Synopsis
Set on the continent of Argan, this first novel follows the Rovac warriors Elkor Alish and Morgan Hearst and the wizards Phyphor, Miphon and Garash. It sets up the events and characters of the first five books, among them the coming war between the warriors and the Confederation of Wizards. It is the most traditional of the novels, a tale of warfare and sorcery whose consequences ripple through the rest of the series.
