Synopsis
In the frozen land of Rhazaulle, a kingdom resembling eighteenth-century Russia, the decadent nobility indulges every excess but one, necromancy, and it is to these forbidden arts that Prince Varis is addicted. Using drugs, potions and the power of the dead, he seizes the Wolf Throne, and the late ruler's widow hides her two children, Cerrov and Shalindra, by sending them south to the kingdom of Aennorve. Twelve years later the exiles have raised an army to fight their uncle and his supernatural forces, and Shalindra, determined to put her brother on the throne that is rightfully his, is taken captive in Varis's mountain stronghold.
