Synopsis
In the sweltering Aveshquian city of ZuLaysa, a land modelled on India under British rule, the native population stirs uneasily under its foreign Vonahrish occupiers, and a revolution is brewing. In a fragile alliance across that divide, Jathondi and Renille are drawn into a whirlwind of rebellion and apocalyptic magic that could shatter the nation and open the long-sealed portal between heaven and earth. Set in the same world as Illusion some years later, the novel was praised as an uncommonly sophisticated fantasy and called her best book since Illusion.
