Synopsis
Tiassa is structured as three linked stories set at different points in Vlad's life, unified by a recurring silver statue and the recurring presence of Khaavren. In the earliest-set section, "Tag," Vlad narrates events from his early rise within the Jhereg, when he is recruited by the Viscount of Adrilankha to counter an Imperial scheme involving stolen money. The middle section, "Whitecrest," shifts focus to other characters, including the Countess of Whitecrest and Vlad's ex-wife Cawti, as an apparent invasion by the extraplanar Jenoine threatens the Empire, though its true nature may not be what it seems. The final section, "Special Tasks," is narrated by Paarfi, the fictional chronicler behind the Khaavren Romances, and follows Khaavren as he investigates a plot targeting Vlad's life, tying the book's separate time periods together around the recurring statue and its significance.

Notes
- From the series record (Vlad Taltos): 17 novels (1983-2024) of a planned 19-book structure (17 House-named books + Taltos, named for the protagonist, + a final closing volume, The Last Contract, not yet written; Chreotha, the 18th, is also not yet written). Internal chronology is contested among fan sources and explicitly not recorded here, see the notes on Jhereg.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
