Synopsis
In an alternate 1966, the Plantagenet kings still rule a large Anglo-French empire, and magic rather than physical science has been developed since about 1300. Lord Darcy, Chief Investigator to the Duke of Normandy, and his companion, the forensic sorcerer Sean O Lochlainn, are in Camelot for a great gathering of wizards when a murder is committed in a locked room. Darcy has to separate magical tricks from ordinary crime, and the fate of a secret that matters to the empire is also at stake. The book is a fair-play mystery in a fantasy setting.
