Synopsis
The assassination of the Chief Judge has pushed the Capitol to the edge, and the Great Extermination has spread across the whole land: the casteless are to be annihilated. Their only hope is the fallen Protector Ashok Vadal, but Ashok is held prisoner on the island of Fortress, the headquarters of the order he once served. While he is locked away, Thera and the Sons of the Black Sword must hold the rebellion together against enemies both human and supernatural, amid political intrigue in the great houses and bloody fighting in the field, and Ashok must find a way back to the war before his people are destroyed.
