Synopsis
In the sixteenth book of The Hollows series, a vampire council representative arrives in Cincinnati determined to prove that Rachel Morgan murdered the city's master vampire in order to seize power for herself, a charge Rachel denies even though she admits to having transformed the vampire in question. With her usual allies preoccupied by their own troubles, Rachel turns for help to the demon Hodin, though his motivations remain deeply uncertain. Resolving the crisis may ultimately require an uneasy reconciliation with her estranged former teacher, Al, even as Rachel tries to balance her responsibilities as Cincinnati's subrosa, keeper of the city's paranormal peace, with clearing her name of the false accusation.
