Synopsis
In the seventeenth book of The Hollows series, Rachel Morgan, a witch-born demon now serving as Cincinnati's demon subrosa, faces escalating threats after her earlier confrontation with the trickster demon Hodin. A mysterious associate of Hodin's known only as the Mage is determined to finish what Hodin started, beginning by dismantling Rachel's carefully built power structure piece by piece and turning her own supporters against her one by one. With her allies coming under direct attack and her authority in the city increasingly contested, Rachel is forced to pursue an unconventional alliance in order to survive, learning again and again throughout the crisis that loyalty in her world always comes at a price, often paid in blood.
