Synopsis
War Wizard tells the backstory of two figures later renowned in Solamnic history, beginning with Devon Ayershire, a boy from a family fixated on knighthood and social standing. His father Jasper, unable to achieve status himself, pushes Devon toward the Knight's Council despite the boy's natural gift for magic, inherited from an ancestor also named Magius, and conceals the family's magical heritage since magic is viewed with suspicion in Solamnia. Devon is forced to develop his talent in secret while outwardly pursuing a knightly path, training alongside a neighboring boy, Huma Feigaard, whose father Sir Richard and sister Greta both hold knightly ambitions of their own. When the Feigaard family eventually adopts Devon, he takes the name Magius and is finally able to study magic openly, forming a close and formative friendship with Huma as the two grow toward the roles history remembers them for.
