Synopsis

When True Night Falls continues the Coldfire Trilogy as Damien Vryce, the undead sorcerer Gerald Tarrant, and the rakh warrior Hesseth travel to Erna's Eastern Continent, a region where the Church has learned to suppress the unconscious workings of the Fae, allowing far more advanced technology and infrastructure than in the west, and where women hold the highest positions in its differently organized clergy. There they encounter Jenseny, a young girl with a rare sensitivity to the deep, tidal currents of Fae energy, whose father is murdered and impersonated by agents of a hidden power. Investigating the killing draws the group into evidence of deep corruption spreading through the Eastern Church's hierarchy, orchestrated by a being known as the Immortal Prince through his servant Calesta, forcing Damien and his companions to race across hostile, Fae-warped terrain to understand and confront this expanding threat.
