Synopsis
Firekeeper and her wolf companion Blind Seer are still in Liglim, a land whose culture forbids the study of ancient magic. They agree to help Truth, a jaguar seer who has lost her senses and hears a voice she cannot identify. Firekeeper travels with Blind Seer and Derian Carter, who is a native of Liglim, hoping to restore Truth and learn who is speaking to her. As they help her, they find evidence that many people in Liglim are secretly pursuing the very magic their laws prohibit, and they decide to investigate. Truth, meanwhile, is keeping secrets about what she knows. The cast is smaller and the focus narrower than in the earlier books of the series.
