Synopsis
Firekeeper and her wolf companion Blind Seer are kidnapped, together with Derian Carter, by Baron Endbrook and carried overseas to Liglim, a southern land few northerners know. Its people worship five elemental deities and treat the animals they call Royals as guides for their faith. The Liglimoshti took Firekeeper because they had never met a human who could talk with animals, and they hope she will teach them how. She is willing to speak with the animals there, but she suspects that the kingdom's Royal animals are being held captive, and she intends to find out the truth and free them if need be. Meanwhile Derian finds himself drawn to a local woman.
