Synopsis
Wolf-Speaker is the second book in the Immortals quartet. Daine, now training in Corus under the mage Numair, is summoned by an old wolf pack she befriended, whose territory near Long Lake is being destroyed by the activities of local nobles. She and Numair travel to investigate and find the damage runs deeper than reckless mining, uncovering the involvement of Tristan Staghorn, a war mage from the empire of Carthak, whose presence suggests a larger and more dangerous scheme is underway. While Numair seeks guidance from the king, Daine stays behind to help her animal allies and continues to expand her wild magic, learning just how far her bond with animals can extend. As she digs deeper, she finds signs of a plot involving Carthak and a plan to poison the region's water, threatening far more than the wolves' home.
