Synopsis
The opening novel of the Age of Misrule trilogy finds Jack Churchill and Ruth Gallagher witnessing a supernatural creature kill a man beneath Albert Bridge on the Thames, a violent encounter that draws them both into a Britain where the ancient gods of Celtic myth, the Tuatha De Danann and the monstrous Fomorii, are returning after millennia of banishment from the world. As reality itself begins to warp under the old gods' resurgence, Church and Ruth are drawn together with other unwitting strangers who each begin to discover they have a role to play in the unfolding crisis, setting the stage for their transformation into what the myths call the Brothers and Sisters of Dragons, humanity's chosen defenders against the returning old powers.

Notes
- From the series record (Age of Misrule): Core Canon = all 3 novels of the completed Age of Misrule trilogy. Years taken from the author's own Wikipedia bibliography (1999/2000/2001) after other listings (a reader-catalogue series page, the World's End Wikipedia infobox) gave slightly inconsistent years for the same books.
