Overview
Legendele Țării lui Vam (Legends from Vamland) is a cycle of linked myths by the Romanian writer Vladimir Colin, first published in Bucharest in 1961, with later Romanian editions in 1974 and 1986. It is presented as a translation of texts found in northern Dobruja and describes the myths of a vanished civilization said to have lived around the Black Sea. The central story is the founding myth of Vamland: the god-of-gods Ormag against the human Vam, who is joined by his companion Una. Other tales cover the giant Panca, Saian and Mastara, and the fall of a great city. An abridged English version by Luiza Carol appeared in 2001. The book stands alone.
