Overview
Jessica Townsend's Nevermoor books follow Morrigan Crow, a cursed girl who escapes death when the remarkable Jupiter North whisks her away into Nevermoor, a secret magical city. To stay, she must win a place in the elite Wundrous Society through four dangerous trials, and as a scholar there she must master Wundersmith powers that threaten to consume her, while a mysterious illness, a murder and long-buried secrets of her own family threaten the city she loves. Townsend's fascinations with public transport, ancient cities, hotels, opera singers, Halloween, secret societies and gigantic cats all found their way into the books. The first novel, the biggest-selling Australian children's debut since records began, won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize, and film rights were sold to Fox.
