Overview

Rai-Kirah is Carol Berg's debut trilogy, published by Roc between 2000 and 2002, and follows Seyonne, a former Warden -- a sorcerer sworn to hunt and bind demons -- who has spent sixteen years enslaved and stripped of his power after his people's defeat by the Derzhi Empire. Sold into the household of Prince Aleksander, heir to the Derzhi throne, Seyonne expects nothing more than servitude, until a demon surfaces at the Derzhi court and he turns out to be the only person present who can recognize it for what it is. Across the trilogy's three books, an escalating demon war and the growing bond -- and rivalry -- between Seyonne and Aleksander push both men toward the collapse of the Derzhi Empire and a final reckoning with truths neither expected about themselves.
