Overview
The Coming Storm is a young adult fantasy novel by Regina M. Hansen, published by Atheneum in 2021 as her first novel. It is set on Prince Edward Island, mainly in 1949 and 1950, with flashbacks to the early nineteenth century, and draws on Scottish folklore, mythology and island history. Fifteen-year-old musician Beet MacNeill sees her older cousin die, and she and the people she loves are threatened by an old evil that she gradually comes to understand and must stop. The book stands alone; the author has said another book about Beet and her friends depends on how readers respond to this one, and none has been announced.
