Overview

Michael Swanwick's industrial Faerie is a dark, post-industrial fairyland mirroring modern America, where elves wear designer suits and sentient iron dragons serve as jet fighters. Three loosely linked novels share it: The Iron Dragon's Daughter (1993), about a human changeling enslaved in a dragon factory; The Dragons of Babel (2008), about a young fey exiled from his village who rises in the towering city of Babel; and The Iron Dragon's Mother (2019), about a dragon pilot on the run, a 2020 Locus Award finalist. Each stands alone, with different characters.
