Mark Sehestedt is an American fantasy author known for his contributions to the Forgotten Realms tie-in fiction line published by Wizards of the Coast. He grew up in Portales, New Mexico, where an early love of imaginative storytelling was shaped by childhood influences including Marvel comic books, Star Trek reruns, Star Wars, horror films, science fiction, and Mel Brooks comedies; he attempted his first piece of creative writing, an unpublished story titled "How Not to Get Captured by Monsters on Halloween Night," at around age four. Sehestedt is best known for the Chosen of Nendawen trilogy set in the Forgotten Realms, comprising The Fall of Highwatch (2009), Hand of the Hunter (2010), and Cry of the Ghost Wolf (2011), which follow characters entangled with the Nentyarch and the primeval forces of the setting's wilderness regions. He has also contributed short fiction to Forgotten Realms anthologies. Sehestedt currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with his spouse, six children, and several pets, including a dog, a bird, a gecko, and spiders.
