Synopsis
Sir Max keeps serving in the Secret Investigation Corps, and the novellas bring him new cases, strange stories and fresh abilities. Forest bandits who were once brought to justice return in one story, a tavern owner turns an evening Max wanted to spend alone with his beloved into another adventure in a second, and a ship from Arvaroh brings its own troubles in a third. In the title novella his past will not let him go: the world he came from wants him back, and he has to find out what that pull will cost him and what he will bring from there to his friends.
