Synopsis
A brutal war is starting against a necromancer, and the forces of Darkness and the forces of Light are both arrayed against him. The executor Etlau marches thousands of soldiers to the walls of the Black Tower, intending their deaths to tip the balance between Good and Evil so that the Destroyer can take shape. Events turn unexpectedly when Fess refuses the part the Western Darkness has assigned him and breaks out of the encirclement at a far higher cost than anyone planned. The book asks where his road leads and who will stand beside him to defend Evial and the other Ordered Worlds.
