Synopsis
This prologue to the New Record of Lodoss War follows Spark, a young knight who becomes ruler of Marmo, the dark island south of Lodoss. He reaches that position after a long road with new allies and painful losses. Figures from his past include Nardia, the hard-edged chief of the fire tribe that shaped his early years, and Elena, a beast tamer whose troubled history matters to Marmo's rise. A court mage of the reformed empire stands in the young nation's way, and the shadow of a king of the undead hints at a larger threat.
