Synopsis
The second prequel volume follows Nashel, the prince of a fallen kingdom, as he makes a risky decision to capture a wild dragon and so becomes a dragon knight. Demon forces keep spreading over Lodoss, bounties are placed on demon leaders, and independent heroes rise outside the established kingdoms and knightly orders. The island's kingdoms waste their strength in infighting rather than stopping the demon armies. Nashel meets Beld and Fahn, a meeting that matters later in the story, and the identity of a magic warrior stays unresolved. Questions about the demon king's intentions remain open.
