Synopsis
Two years after the Hero War, Parn and the elf Deedlit are still hunting the sorceress Karla and the missing thief Woodchuck, whose body she took. Rumors of a powerful magic user lead them to Flaim, the desert kingdom, where a civil war between the Wind and Fire tribes is tearing the country apart. Parn joins the king's army while Deedlit works with spirit magic. The pair run into hostile tribes and a fire spirit, and they come to suspect that outside forces are provoking the fighting. Deedlit's summoned salamander becomes the fire king spirit Ifrit, and she later enters the Tower of Dust Storms to win the wind spirit Jinn's service through a trial.
