Synopsis
In the second half of the second volume of Winter Break, the exiled prince Aldo Ratsan finally takes the throne in the city where his ancestor was once betrayed and killed. Roké Alva, the Raven and a descendant of that traitor, a pillar of the ruling Ollar dynasty, is now in the new king's hands and awaits trial and execution. His friends, the lords of the realm, each carry doubts of their own, yet remain tied by invisible bonds even as they take different roads. Those who fall behind or lose hope face a meeting with the pale mare, the herald of death, and arriving too late would be the worst fate of all.
