Synopsis
A Crown Imperilled continues the Chaoswar Saga as the Empire of Great Kesh presses its assault on the western lands and political instability spreads across multiple kingdoms at once. Hal, newly made Duke of Crydee, is charged with protecting Princess Stephane of Roldem as she flees a coup attempt against her throne, while the intelligence operative Jim Dasher works to head off a string of coordinated catastrophes that seem too well-timed to be coincidence. Pug and his son Magnus investigate a mysterious energy matrix they believe connects to the chaos unfolding across the world, including troubling signs tied to demons carrying the memories of people Pug once knew, and the discovery of a long-vanished Pantathian civilization deepens the mystery of what is truly driving the Kingdom toward the brink of collapse.

Notes
- UK edition ISBN, the earliest edition on record. The UK edition of this book was titled "A Crown Imperilled" (double-l), a genuine title-spelling variant, not a transcription error. This book's ISBN was found in Round 3 (2026-08-10) to have been a duplicate of Magician's End's real ISBN (a Round 2 data error, not a genuine shared ISBN) and has been unset pending a distinct, targeted re-check of its own actual ISBN.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
- Publication order, within the series The Chaoswar Saga: position 2 of 3: previous A Kingdom Besieged (2011) · next Magician's End (2013)
- Internal chronology, within Riftwar Cycle: position 29 of 30: previous A Kingdom Besieged (2011) · next Magician's End (2013)
