Synopsis

The first volume of A Saga das Pedras Mágicas is set in a time when the wise Druids withdrew into the forests to preserve the Knowledge handed down to them in past ages by the Magical Beings, after the sorceress Aranwen had renounced her magical powers to marry the mortal she loved. Only the Stone of Time, rising over the North of the world, keeps the secret of a powerful pact of love and blood: Aranwen deceived the Council of the Higher Beings and kept her power on Earth imprisoned within seven magic stones, and in the same age the sorcerers who found the crystals of the Sun and the Moon founded the Order of the Dragon. Into this inheritance come Catelyn, the young sorceress at the saga's heart, and Throst, the Northern warrior whose love for her sets eight books in motion.

Notes

  • From the series record (A Saga das Pedras Mágicas): Sandra Carvalho's eight-volume Portuguese epic fantasy (Editorial Presença, Via Láctea, 2005-2013): three generations of a Northern family, from the sorceress Catelyn and the Wolf Warrior Throst to their daughters and granddaughter, bound to the seven magic stones in which the sorceress Aranwen imprisoned her power and to the Stone of Time that guards her pact of love and blood.
