Sandra Carvalho is a Portuguese fantasy novelist, one of the first women to make a name in the genre in Portugal and, in 2005, the first Portuguese author to join Editorial Presença's Via Láctea collection, which the publisher had created three years earlier for fantastic literature. Her eight-volume A Saga das Pedras Mágicas (2005-2013), from A Última Feiticeira to Sombras da Noite Branca, follows three generations of a Northern family bound to the seven magic stones of the sorceress Aranwen, and built her a large and loyal readership; her publisher counts it among the Portuguese fantasy series most cherished by readers. She followed it with the trilogy Crónicas da Terra e do Mar (O Olhar do Açor, Filhos do Vento e do Mar, O Grito do Corvo) and the novel A Noite do Caçador (2019). In 2019 she received the literature prize of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Europe and Africa.
