Synopsis

In this fourth Merry Gentry novel, the story opens at an unusual press conference held at the sidhe's hidden home in Los Angeles. The event is disrupted when a lesser fae and a human reporter are murdered, and Merry is assigned by her aunt, Queen Andais, to solve the killings. Bringing in human forensic methods alongside faerie magic, Merry works the case with her guard of Ravens, led by Doyle and Frost, while continuing to navigate her aunt's demand that she or her cousin Cel produce an heir to secure the Unseelie throne. Taking place over roughly a single day, the novel keeps Merry moving between the investigation and the ongoing pressures of court politics as she tries to find the killer before the danger spreads further.

Notes

  • From the series record (Merry Gentry): Nine published novels; a tenth was announced as delivered to the author's editor but not yet published, so Core Canon here covers only the nine already in print.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
