Synopsis
Affliction is the twenty-second novel in the Anita Blake series. It opens with Anita receiving news that Micah's estranged father is dying in Colorado after being bitten by a zombie, and she travels there with Micah, Nathaniel and a team of guards to be with the family. On arrival they discover the danger is far larger than a single bite: the town is being terrorized by a series of flesh-eating zombie attacks that leave the infected transformed into dangerous undead. As federal marshal and necromancer Anita works to identify the source of the infection and contain the growing outbreak, the situation escalates when someone close to her group is bitten in the field, forcing Anita into direct, personal danger from the very affliction she is trying to stop. The novel follows her efforts to protect Micah's family and the wider community while the crisis spreads.
