Synopsis

Kiss the Dead is the twenty-first novel in the Anita Blake series. U.S. Marshal Anita Blake, a necromancer who works supernatural cases for law enforcement, is assigned to investigate a vampire who has been illegally turning underage victims into vampires, a practice that violates both vampire law and human statutes designed to protect minors. The case draws Anita into contact with Asher, an ancient and strikingly scarred vampire within Jean-Claude's court whose jealousy over Anita's other relationships creates ongoing friction and emotional strain for everyone around him. While she works to track down those responsible for the illegal turnings and prevent further victims, Anita must also continue managing the demands and rivalries of her own expanding circle of supernatural partners, balancing her duties as a marshal against the pressures of her personal life.
