Synopsis

Against All Things Ending finds Thomas Covenant restored to life but mentally and emotionally fractured by his passage through death, struggling to reconcile who he was with who he has become as a new catastrophe stirs. The Worm of the World's End, an ancient force whose waking has always meant the unraveling of time itself, begins moving toward the Land, drawn by disturbances that Linden Avery's own choices helped set in motion. Linden presses on with her desperate effort to free her son Jeremiah from the psychic damage that has haunted him for years, gathering Giants, Haruchai and Ramen allies even as the growing threat of the Worm makes clear that the price of any rescue may be higher than she has yet understood.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.

  • Publication order, within the series The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant: position 3 of 4: previous Fatal Revenant (2007) · next The Last Dark (2013)
  • Internal chronology, within The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant: position 9 of 10: previous Fatal Revenant (2007) · next The Last Dark (2013)
