Synopsis
The realm of Urguemand has been invaded, and Agone, a scholar-noble who carries a talking rapier, is wounded by thorns that leave him unable to bear daylight. He sets out to reclaim his barony of Rochronde and drives out his half-brother Mésume, who had taken it. He holds out in the flooded church of Adelguêne until a siege forces him to flee. The invasion has been organized by three mages hidden in a tower in Lorgol, and Agone sets out to find them. The book closes the Crépusculaires cycle, set in a Renaissance-style world of fairies, sprites and Danseurs, the small creatures through which its magic works.
