Synopsis
Arduink is an orc boy sold to military trainers, who teach him to hate and to deceive. He rejects that upbringing, deserts, and chooses to serve humankind, becoming the knight Arduin. He never denies his orc origins. He falls in love with Giada, a warrior princess, and tries to stop the killing of children. Set about three hundred years before the events of L'ultimo elfo, the novel follows men, orcs, elves and dwarves who are locked in a violent conflict. It explores his family lines, the politics of the time, and how he handles being rejected by his own people while trying to save humans from extermination.
