Silvana De Mari

Silvana De Mari was born in 1953 in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, in the province of Caserta, Italy. She graduated in medicine at the University of Turin and specialised in general surgery and digestive endoscopy. She worked as a surgeon in Piedmont and in Ethiopia, and later opened a private psychotherapy practice in Turin. She writes children's and fantasy fiction. Her first book for children, L'ultima stella a destra della luna, appeared in 2000, and L'ultimo elfo followed in 2004. Her books have been published by Salani, Fanucci, Giunti and Ares, among others, and have been translated into more than twenty languages.
